About SNARE Lab

SNARE Lab is an independent research laboratory in Croatia, founded in 2026. Our field is the sensory nervous system: the small nerve fibres that carry pain, temperature and touch.

We work in two ways. For physicians, we quantify intraepidermal nerve fibre density (IENFD) in skin biopsies to the EFNS/PNS 2010 protocol, through partner clinics. For research groups and clinical-trial sponsors, we provide skin-biopsy endpoints, central reading and consulting. Alongside the service, we pursue our own research on sensory neurons in neuropathy, chronic pain and ageing; projects and publications will be listed here as they come.

Founder

Mirna Anđelić, PhD, molecular neuroscientist. Doctorate as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow in a joint programme between Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta, Milan, and the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHeNs), Maastricht University, with a research stay at Yale University. Her work combines skin biopsy with molecular biomarkers of small fibre neuropathy. After the doctorate she worked in the longevity industry and in systems medicine before founding SNARE Lab.

Author of papers on painful neuropathy and its biomarkers; co-author of the “Skin Biopsy” chapter in the Encyclopedia of the Neurological Sciences (Elsevier, 2025); speaker at international congresses and courses on skin-biopsy methodology, including an IASP workshop. Member of the Peripheral Nerve Society, IASP, the Croatian Society for Neuroscience and World Women in Neuroscience; participant in the COST Action INFLAMomx (CA24166).
